I had a fulfilling weekend. Made a trip to Suntec last Saturday to indulge in retail therapy. Suntec is now my favourite place to shop for maternity clothes, all due to the fabulous shop called Spring Maternity. The clothes are nice, they're functional - all bottoms have an adjustable elastic band - and the price is reasonable - of course my member's discount of 10% adds to the attraction.
So the Saturday afternoon was spent shopping. The other great haul is a pair of leather walking shoes from Aerosoles. I love wearing sandles and find it a hassle to find covered shoes. But in a nod towards being preggers, I admit it was time to find a pair of walking shoes safe-for-preggers. It was lovely - basic loafer, flat heeled, black leather upper, mary jane style with a thin buckled strap over the top.
Aerosoles at Suntec had sizes 9 and 9.5. I tried on both and found 9 to be the perfect fit - 9.5 was slipping out at the back. But I knew my feet would always expand when I went out of the air-conditioned mall and at home, so maybe the 9.5 would be safer. But on the salesman's advice, I went for the 9.
Alas! I should've listened to my gut. 9 turned out too tight and I strongly feel 9.5 would be more comfy, especially in the long-run when my feet swelled some more. So I'm taking the afternoon off later - who wants to work on a Monday anyway? After the 2 audits at work this month I am owed a break! And will head down to Aerosoles Suntec to get my shoes exchanged. Shoes also come in brown and green - very cute. Who knows I may be tempted to try them on later too. :P
So yes, it was a great Saturday afternoon of shopping. However on Sunday I truly paid the price. No not via my wallet, although that will come later. I found my left arm numb and aching, and the nerve at the back of my right knee was giving out shooting pains when I extended the leg fully. I suspect it must have been the shopping - the heavy load carried and the harried pace. What I'm not sure of is the cause of the aches - was I simply out of shape, or were they due to the stresses of pregnancy??
Looks like I'm going to have to go lite and easy with my shopping trips in future!
